Tours on Thursday 23 June
Tour 1 - Visit to a Slaughterhouse and GD Deventer (Animal Health Service)
A slaughterhouse in the south of the Netherlands will be visited which belongs to the VION company (www.vionfood.com). In presentations the quality strategy and high lights from innovation programme with respect to hygiene and control of Salmonella will be presented. Finally, as far as possible, slaughtering and deboning activities will be shown.
GD Deventer (Animal Health Service) is offering a post conference tour of her facilities in Deventer. The tour will include an introduction to the work of the GD and a tour of the laboratory.
The fee for attending one tour is € 75,00 (exclusive of 19% VAT) per person and includes transportation and lunch. The maximum number of participants is 25.

Tour 2 – Pig farm visits
During this tour four pig farms in the south of the Netherlands will be visited. These farms have all got special facilities to show part of their pigs to the public. This means that we will NOT actually enter the herd. This also means that not all aspects of the husbandry systems are visible and accessible for visitors. However, the herd owners or their representatives will be present to answer any questions that you might have. A specialised pig health veterinarian from The Netherlands will accompany the tour to answer any questions that you might have.
The fee for this tour is € 75,00 (exclusive of 19% VAT) per person and includes transport, lunch and admission fees. The maximum number of participants is 50, the minimum is 20.
